For the Love of Print

By Georgie Brown

With International Print Day (#IPD17) now only one day away, I wanted to share with you one of my favourite print experiences.

The ‘Oscillation’ dress, designed and 3D printed by ThreeASFOUR and Stratasys in collaboration with Travis Fitch, is an incredible example of what can be achieved by combining traditional techniques with modern technology. I find the complex geometries truly fascinating and love how 3D printing is crafting a whole new realm of fashion possibilities.

Based on the cascade of waves, the elaborate dress intertwines varying layers, complimented by a spectrum of vivid colour gradations. This combination cleverly brings the oscillating waveform to life.

For me, it’s really inspiring to see 3D printed fashion, such as this dress, being showcased at one of the most prestigious events in the fashion world – New York Fashion Week! It encourages us to experience 3D printing in a new way and serves as a great testament to the creative complexities designers can achieve using the technology.
