Youngstown Business Incubator, Ohio Selected as First USA Customer Site for XJet Carmel 1400 AM System

YBI is one of the USA’s top business incubators and a leader in advanced manufacturing technology transition.

Frankfurt, Germany (formnext 2017) – November 14, 2017 – XJet Ltd., the additive manufacturing company, has selected the Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI) and its partner, Youngstown State University, as its first USA customer for the XJet Carmel 1400 additive manufacturing (AM) system.

Poised to transform the metal and ceramic additive manufacturing industries, the XJet Carmel AM system features the company’s patented NanoParticle Jetting™ technology that enables the production of metal or ceramic parts with the ease and versatility of inkjet printing without compromising throughput or quality.

The system will be installed in January 2018. During the beta period, the focus will be on ceramic materials for both research and development and part production. Ceramics have strong applications for AM products in the aerospace and biomedical industries.

The Youngstown Business Incubator, based in Youngstown, Ohio, is a leading university-associated business incubator in the USA. It is also home to the America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute.  As the national accelerator for AM and 3d printing technologies, America Makes is the nation’s leading and collaborative partner in AM and 3DP technology research, discovery, creation, and innovation. America Makes is the national accelerator for AM technology in the United States and is the flagship program for the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation (“Manufacturing USA”).

According to Barb Ewing, CEO of the Youngstown Business Incubator, “This technology will put Youngstown and Northeast Ohio on the cutting edge of the next generation of AM materials:  ceramics.  With this capability, northeast Ohio companies and researchers will make exponential improvements in products ranging from dental and implants to fuel cells and airplane braking systems.”

“The XJet Carmel 1400 system is central to our plans for making northeast Ohio the focal point of AM activities in the US,” says YSU President, Jim Tressel. “The flexibility of the system and the can-do attitude of the XJet team make their solution ideal for our innovative work in advanced manufacturing and 3D printing technology.”

According to Rob Gorham, Executive Director, “America Makes is pleased to support this exciting news from our partners at YBI and YSU.  By bringing new companies with new products and services to the region, they are strengthening the mission of America Makes to accelerate the adoption of 3D Printing.”

“The Youngstown Business Incubator is an ideal first customer in North America,” said Hanan Gothait, CEO and Founder of XJet. “Ohio has a very rich history of traditional manufacturing and YBI is positioned at the vanguard of new manufacturing technologies and techniques that will drive manufacturing in the 21st century.”

The project is being made possible through the support of JobsOhio, a private, nonprofit corporation that promotes job creation and economic development for Ohio. “Jobs Ohio is pleased to support YBI in the acquisition of the XJet Carmel 1400 AM System”, said JobsOhio Managing Director for Advanced Manufacturing Glenn Richardson. “We look forward to the advancement of this technology, as well as the development of skilled workers capable of facilitating its use in production applications.”

XJet is participating at formnext 2017, a leading trade fair for additive manufacturing, that will take place in Frankfurt, Germany on November 14-17, 2017. Dror Danai, XJet’s CBO, will present the company’s NPJ technology for metal and ceramic AM on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 1:30 pm.

XJet will host formnext visitors in Hall 3.1 at booth E20.

PEOPLE SAY...

“I have worked in industrial journalism for over three decades and therefore feel I can comment with a fair degree of experience on the merits of the communications I receive on behalf of technology suppliers and implementers. On that basis I have no hesitation in commending Incus Media very highly as an organisation that serves both its clients and the media very well. I find I can rely on it not just to supply well-written pertinent background information but also to facilitate direct constructive contact with its clients when appropriate. Its staff are also friendly and approachable as well as efficient and effective.”
